Anthony James (born July 22, 1942) is an American actor. Tall, often greasy-haired and with an oily grin, James specialized in creepy, sleazy villains in films and television, many of them Westerns. His first major role, and probably his best known, was as Ralph, the diner counterman in the 1967 Oscar-winning movie In the Heat of the Night. He continued working regularly until Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven (1992), when he retired from acting. He has since devoted his time to his artwork.[1]
